The bodies of Hetueiiugton and Green have been recovered. They were buriedi under extensive falls' from the roof, caused by the explosion. It turns out that there were fifteen men in the mine, so that; ten more bodies have yet to be recovered. The search parties are displaying great gallantry, being driven back time and again by the noxious gases as well as by smoke from the fires. The inspector states that these are confined to a small area. Carbon monoxide has been detected, and the Government has sent up a number of white mice, these creatures being extremely sensitive to the smallest percentage, of white damp in the atmosphere.
