The Hindoos and Mohammedans have closed their shops in the markets in Bombay, and the labourers have struck work as a protest against the plague measures. Nine rioters were killed and twenty-two injured in the recent riots, while a hundred and nine were arrested. Twenty-three police and seventeen civiliaus were injured. The Europeans are now carrying arms. It is believed that the Mohammedans organised the outbreak.
