THE CONVENTION AT MELBOURNE, United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph— Copyright. Eeceived Jan. 2S. 7.10 p.m. MELBOURNE, Jan. 28. The sitting of the Convention to-daj was confined to discussion of alteration! in drafting and minor amendments suggested by the colonies. A suggestior dealing with the judiciary, proposed bj South Australia, that the Bench shoulc not consist of less than four judges, wa: negatived. A letter was received from the Government of Queensland regretting thai its efforts to secure representation at th( Convention were futile. Sir J. Abboi reiterated tho charges ho made at Sydnej of insincerity on the part of Queensland Mr Walker, as an old Queenslander, tool it upon himself to defend Sir Hugl Nelson, the Premier, as an honourabh man. The matter then dropped.
