ORANGE DEMONSTRATION.
♦- A number of members of the various Orange Lodges met at the Orange Hall yesterday, at 11 a.in., to commemorate the anniversary of the arrival of the first four ships. They formed themselves into a procession, headed by the Woolston bajid, and marshalled by Bro Douglass, P.R.G.M., assisted by P.D.M. Bro W. J. Diffen, and P.D.M. Bro Hanna, marched through town, and thence up yictoria Street, to Mr Pepper's grounds, at Fendalton, where a picnic was held. The Lodges were fairly well represented, and members of seven- ladies' Lodges were included. A programme of sports was held during the afternoon, the following being the results of the principal events:— 120 yds Trophy, A. Keninworth 1 ; 200 yds Handicap, W. H. Paget 1; Ladies' Eace, Sister Gunn 1, Sister M'Clelland 2, Sister Gourley 3 ; Girls under sixteen, M. Diffen 1, P. M'Clelland 2, L. Cox 3; 150 yds, T. Stirling. Speeches were delivered by Bros • Douglass and Dyson, and a hearty vote of thanks to Bro Pepper for the use of his ■ grounds closed a very pleasant outing.
