[Per Press Association."! AUCKLAND, Dec. 16. Mr Abraham Boardman was installed Mayor of Auckland to-day. ' The retiring' Mayor, Mr Holland, stated that during the year the overdraft on the general account of .£8612 had been wiped out, and there was now a credit balance of .£ISOO. The total overdraft was now .£15,726, against .£22,646 in 1893. Two hundred applications have been received for the post of caretaker of the Little Barrier Eeserve at a salary of .£l5O a year. Several shipmasters are among the applicants. The jn-esent dry weather shows no signs of breaking up. The thermometric reading shows this to be the hottest December, for ten years. Garden-hose licenses have been cancelled by the city authorities.
