SUDDEN DEATH.

POISONING SUSPECTED. At 8.15 a.m. to-day a man mimed Edward Bennett, in the employ of Charles Hillary Parker, went to the lattei's office, an I found Mr Parker lying on the floor face downwards, apparently dead. The police were at once telephoned for, and Dr Symes arrived on the scene quickly. The doctor examined the body, and pronounced that Mr Parker had just died, the body beinostill wavni. A noto was found in the. trousers pocket of deceased, and showed that ho contemplated suicide. No tracj of poison could be found, but it was evident as some orange peel was found near by, that deceased had recently eaten an orange in which the. poison may have been contained. •• : In therrporn there "was also a~g]ass:which had been recently used, but the doctor wassuriable to detect any smell of poison therein. Deceased was a married man, Avell-known in Christchurch, and had carried on business as bailiff and commission agent for many years. An inquest will be held.
