He was Visoqunt Taafe of Correy and Baron of Ballymote, Sligo, in the Irish perage; being a descendant of the Irish nobleman of the same name who made a great reputation in the Germanic Empire, He was brought np with the present Austrian 'Emperor, Francis Joseph. He entered the Austrian Imperial service in 1857 as Secretary of the Hungarian Government, and subsequently occupied several' responsible offices.
