1 It is a mistakan notion to suppose that COwa need no shade in the pasture. They cannot eat aU the time, and while not eating: the more comfortable they are, whether in the shade of a tree or shelterBhed, tha better it is for them and the owner. ' Mr M'Ewen's advocacy ol mai-zeas a fodder for dairy cattle, either green or in the form of ensilage, has been taken up by the Department of Agriculture, and samples of the seed of several Mndß of maize have been distributed amongßt farmers in different parts of the colony and to Lincoln College and the State farm at Momahaki for experimental cultivation. More changes at the Central Dairy Faotory have taken place. Mr Gordge, the Sactical head of the factory has severed I connection and begun busineas in Christohuroh 1 as a supplier of milk and cream of special quality, his premises in Colombo itreet being fitted with a separator atid other appliances. Mr Alabaster, clerk fit the faotory, haß also left.
