The following letter, from the President ■ of the Chamber of Commerce to the Minister of Agriculture, has been handed to ub for publication :•— Sir,— l have the honour to direct your attention to several meetings that have been held by runholders and settlers in South Canterbury, north of Bangitata, with the object of protecting the dietrict from the threatened invasion of rabbits. In view ef the devastation wrought in other parts of the colony by this pest, I would beg to say that our Chamber is in full sympathy with thosa whose properties are now in danger of the same scourge, and who are accordingly seeking means to prevent it. I would therefore respectfully beg that you will favourably consider the request now being made for Government assistance, and that you will see fit to erect, aB soon aB mayj_e possible,- Buch fence as may be recommended by competent and independent persons.— l have, &0., G.
