A SINGULAR INCIDENT.
The Napier Telegraph saya:— Mr C. Palmer apd MrT. Waterworth were standing talking together a few mornings ago, and near them was the latter's large Sb Bernard dog. Mr Palmer patted the animal on the breast, and immediately exclaimed "Hallo, your dog has got something very Bharp sticking out of him !" Mr Palmer's finger was found to be bleeding, and upon examining the dog, it was discovered that nearly half an inch of a stout needle was projecting from his breast. It was tightly fixed, and an attempt to move it by tweezers failed. A pair of pincers being obtained, the needle was pulled out, when it was found to be a darning needle about three inches long. The dog must have swallowed the needle while eating, and, as is not uncommon in such cases, it worked its way outwards.
