The Mounted Rifles. — Major Slater, V.D., has written to Lieutenant Snow, the officer commanding the Canterbury Mounted Rifles, as follows:— "I cannot allow the excellent muster of the Canterbury Mounted Rifles on Saturday, July 20, to witness the presentation of the Imperial Volunteer officers' decoration to pass unnoticed by me, knowing as I do the personal inconvenience several of the members mußt have been put to in order to be present, and, also the distance many of the country men came from. I cannot but accept the attendance aa a personal compliment, for which I tender the corps my sincere thanks, whioh I trust you will communicate to the members." Lieutenant Snow has also thanked the members who attended, and has pointed out that the feeling which prompted their attendance goes far towards fostering the esprit de corps so essential to the well-being of any military force. O. W. O. Hardman, Sheriff of Tyler Co., W. Va., appreciates a good thing and doeß not hesitate to say so. He was almost prostrated with a cold when he procured a bottle of Chamberlain's Cough Remedy. He says :— " It gave me prompt relief. I find it to be an invaluable remedy for coughs and colds." For sale by Wallace and Co., Chemißta, Christchurch. DURYEA'S MAIZENA.
