The Native Trouble.
P?ER PBIS9B ABBOCIATIOH. I WELLINGTON, June 11.
Telegrams received by the Government from the Urawera country state that the recent koreroa with the Natives were satisfactory, and that the survey is going on quickly. The Tnhoeo Were reluctant about the road going beyond Ahikeru, but the opposition was apparently more in the nature of a protest than anything else, and aa Boon as they saw it was of no use they gave way. Roads will be laid off between Galatea and Whabatane, and Te Whaiti and Ahikeru. The Natives of Euatahuna were very determined in their opposition at first, bat Mr Carroll told them that if there was any trouble a permanent force would be stationed there, and the Government would let loose the whole of the unemployed on the road between there and Waikaremoana. Not long afterwards they withdrew their opposition. Mr Carroll is now on his way to Gisborne via Wairoa.
