The Lyceum.— Mr W. W. Collins lectured at the Lyceum last night, taking for his subject "Ireland: her Struggles for Religious and Political Liberty." The lecture was illustrated by limelight views, which included portraits of Irish poets, orators and reformers. O'Connell's statue over his burial place was also shown.

Bands of Hope.— The usual fortnightly meeting of the Sydenham Presbyterian Church Band of Hope was held on Friday evening. The President (Mr C. Smith) occupied the chair. The following programme was successfully gone through :— Recitations by John Howieeon, Stanley Aitchieon, William Seabourn, Donald Burnside and Gordon Aitchison t readings by William Round, Gilbert M'Kay and John Milne; songs by Mr Smith and Walter Duffield ; and a dialogue by several senior members. A short but interesting address was given by the Bey Somerville. — There was a large attendance at the meeting of the Greendale Band of Hope on Friday evening. A varied programme was successfully carried out. A glee company of eight young girla gave two items very creditably, Miss B. Rudd playing the accompaniments. Two dialogues, entitled " Mistaken Generosity " and " Dr Quack," were given by visitors from Dmfield, and Miss B. Moffatt and Mr Bowles gave a duet. Several of those present signed the roll.
