KAIAPOI v. EAST CHRISTCHURCH.

The first meeting tfaia eeaaon between the senior fifteens of these Clubs took place at Kaiapoi. The game wbb very one-sided, Kaiapoi asserting their Buperiority to the tune of thirty-seven points to nil. Ea6t Chriatchurch kicked off, and for the first quarter of an hour play was in neutral territory. Then a long kick by Balch seat the ball out of touch at the East twenty-five, and from a ecrimmago Oram got possession and passed to Dickie, who scored. Templeton registered a fine goal. Following the kick-off the East forwards worked the ball to the Kaiapoi quarters, but it wfes taken back, and after a dribbling rush Oram picked tip smartly and scored. Templeton again converted. Soon afterwards Scott dodged through the E&st bicka and scored. No goal waa kicked. Mora passing between Templeton, Balch and W. J. Moir let the laet-named over the line, and as Templeton converted eighteen to nil waa noted in favour of Kaiapoi. Just before halftime a fine passing rush, in which Simpson, Oram and Bate were prominent, ended in the last-named scoring. Templeton failed with the kick, and the te*ms changed enda with the score at twenty-one to nil. In the second spell, the Yellows were kept almost entirely on the defensive. Once the East forwards came with a fine rush, and for some minutes kept up a strong, attack in front of the Kaiapoi goal. Bilch at last obtained possession, aad dodging through all the.East forwards, ran to the centre, where he passed to Pearoe. The latter outpaced his opponents and scored. No goal was kicked. After this Balch, J. Moir and Scott Ecored in the order named. Templeton and Balch each kicked a goal, and the game ended ac above stated. Mr F. T. Evans waa referee.
