WELLINGTON, Maech 22. The complete returns, subject to revision give Van Staveren, M'Kenzie, Yogel, Clere, Mills, Harcourt, Williston and Heaton as the committee in the order named. M'Kenzie and Clere are the only temperance candidates who have gained seats. The figures of the poll are : — For licenses [ to continue as t»t present, 3581; reduction, 1283 ; prohibition, 3397; giving a majority of 1099 in favour of reduction. There were over 1000 informal votes. Later. A further scrutiny of the voting makes a difference in the committee. Heaton and Willeßton go out and Young and Smith go in. The latter is a temperance man. The figures a 8 revised are : — Van Staveren 4656, M'Kenzie 4652, Yogel 4345, Mills 4267, Young 4262, Harcourt 4199, Clere 4179, Smith 4129, Heaton 4120, Willeßton 4114, and Collins 3973. The rest are unaltered. The voting is very close, and as an official scrutiny has been applied for, there may again be alterations. The scrutiny will be held on Tuesday. The polling figures already given are correct, but the informal votes will be a good deal over a thousand. The bulk of them were on the temperance side and mostly women. The committee as at present constituted contains five moderates and three temperance members.
