Lyttelton.

Very little excitement was manifested over the voting on the licensing question at Lyttelton this forenoon. The Courthouse was the principal polling place, while the Oddfellows' Hall, as in the case of the general election, was used as a , second booth. During the forenoon a fairly steady stream of electors recorded their votes, bit little or no excitement was apparent. The extreme Prohibitionists professed to think that they will be successful in carrying " no license," while the moderate thinking person, while not going this far, did not hesitate to predict that the votes cast for reduction will demonstrate the opinion that the vast majority of voters consider some radical reform should be effected in the control of the trade. The Returning Officer, Mr E. M. Griffiths, put the three issues to the electors, and they were therefore required to vote on the Übxxq of publicans', accommodation and bottle licenses.
