Kaiapoi.
The activity of the temperance party in the Kaiapoi district daring the past few weeks met with energetic response from -those opposed to prohibition, and, as a natural result great interest ia being taken in the polling to-day. At Kaiapoi and Rangiora both parties had a large number of vehicles in use bringing up the voters, and supporters of both (tides were at the polling booths busily engaged instructing the electors how to vote. At the other booths matters were equally lively in proportion to the number of electors. Representation failed to get booths at Fernaide, Carleton and Waikuku, consequently many of the electors had to go a long distance to record their votes. The voting papers bore the names of seventeen candidates, and all the issues as to licenses, although there are no accommodation, or bottle licenses in the district. It iB expected that the results of the polling, as affecting the different parties, will be very close.
