PUBLIC EXAMINATION^ Mr Joynt (on behalf o f tfo Official Assignee) *~ pl , c ci for the public examina tl6n of the bankrupt. Mr Bruges (on behalf of the bankrupt) applied for an adjournment on the ground that the report of the Official Assignee, which contained somewhat serious charges against the bankrupt, had not been filed till within the last few days, and his client had had no opportunity of perusing it. Mr Joynt suggested that the examination might go on, and an adjournment be subsequently granted. It was known that a report had to be filed. Mr Bruges submitted that it would be unreasonable to aßk his client to answer questions until he had had an opportunity of looking into the report, and he considered that this course would facilitate the examination. His Honor said that before the bankrupt was examined under the stringent provisions of the Act, he should have an opportunity of perusing the raportof the Official Assignee. The report had only been filed on March 16, and this had soarcely given reasonable time. Mr Joynt admitted the reasonableness of the adjournment, and his Honor fixed the examination for Monday, April 16.
