-«■ Proclaimed "King of Peace," [Pan Pbbss Association.] MANAIA, Skp t. 30. Te Whiti's mana has been gradually getting lesa for eeveral years past, and an effort to renew his old prestige was made on Sept. 18, when a monster _ meeting was held at Parihaka, at which dark sayings were again resorted to. A fresh movement has, however, been started by the proclamation by his followers |of Te Whiti as "King of Peace/ 5 but [ whether tbe title hag been assumed ia not clear. Parihaka is at the time of these large meetings very noisy, through the ÜBe of intoxicating drinks. Te Whiti's adherents have been confirmed in the belief ! in his divine mission, and in token cf their 1 submission to him, wear white feathera in their hats. A competent judge says there is more enthusiasm now in Te Whiti's : favour than there has been for years.
