CREDITORS' MEETING.
— _-____». — , — BE JAMES BLACKLEE. The first meeting of creditors in the estate of Jamea Blackler, formerly hotelkeeper, of Leeston, now out of business, was to have been held this morning. There were only two creditors present, bnt the bankrupt, for whom Mr Eussell appeared, was examined shortly. The bankrupt's statement showed — Unsecured creditors £197 83. Assets — Book debts _8116 3s 2d, estimated to produce -880; deficiency _£117 Bs. The unsecured creditors were : — Eainbow and Son £1 Bs, Scarlett and Co. £60, Vincent and Co. .813, Wood, Shand and Co. £90, Garrick, Cowlishaw and Co. .85 10s, Ward and Co. £3, Press Company, Limited, £2 10s, Crothers Brothers £2, M. C. Sheppard £20. The bankrupt stated that he formerly leased the Irwell Hotel, but was turned out by the mortgagee. He then had a severe illae__s, and though be had recovered was etill unable to do any work, and was dependent on his eldest son. Mr Shand took exception to some parts of the statement. Mr Eussell, in reply to a question, stated that the bankrupt had been . turned out of the hotel by an order of the Supreme Coutt. After some discussion, it was resolved to adjourn the meeting sine die.
