In Chambers. This Day. (Before his Honor Mr Justice Denniston.) Be Companies Act and re the Mercantile Finance and Agency Company, Limited. Mr Joynt moved on petition to appoint inspectors. The general report of the Company was handed in to his Honor, Mr Joynt asked for an adjournment, and the case was ordered to be adjourned for four weeks. Re Companies Act and re the Seed and Agricultural Company of New Zealand, Limited. His Honor, on the appUcation of Mr Beswick, made an order that the register be rectified by the striking out of the name of T. L. Buick. Probate was granted of the will of John Brown, deceased, on the motion of Mr Widdowson. Mr Hoban moved for probate of the will of James Cleary, deceased. The papers in this case, he said, had been sent down from the Auckland offioe; deceased had died in the Canterbury district, and the executors resided in Auckland. His Honor asked Mr Hoban to supply him with the correspondence in this case, and said he would communicate with tbe Judge in Auckland and other authorities, and ascertain if it was the practice to grant probates in one district when the executors lived in another.
[Pkb Pbkss Association.] DUNEDIN, June 29. The case of Wood v. the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company occupied Mr Justice Ward and a speoial jury of four. Plaintiff claimed £350 damages for injuries sustained through being struck while on the cross wharf by a portion of the tackle that was being used in moving the Company's barque Lutterworth. The jury gave a verdict for the plaintiff for £25, but leave was- reserved for defendant to move for a nonsuit, for judgment for the defendant, and for a new trial. Mr Justice Ward sits to-morrow for the last time as locum tenens for Mr Justice Williams.
