Water.
It seems strango in the midst of these rainß to hear men crying out for want of water. But, the cry of tho village settlers at Ashbiu-ton is for water in the summer. There is water to the right of them and water to the left of them, but never a drop do they get. They are ready to cut a loop line fcr themselves if the County Council will only lay the work for them. Bui; the County Council has shown no sign of any desire to do so. Now the village settler i 3 a valuable citizen, and deserves encouragement, if only for the useful lesson his success iv life will teach a, world sadly in wanfc of what hunting men call "a lead over." The County Council of Ashburton should remember this.
