Esqs.) Drunkenness, &c— -A first offender was fined ss.— H. W. Davis, for being drunk, and resisting Constable Flanigan in the execution of his duty, was fined 5s for the brat offence, and 10s for resisting the constable. &

. Robbing x Till.— George French, aged sixteen, who was brought up last week for (stealing and discharged) and Frederick •Kiught, three, were charged with the above offence. Mrs Dingwall, grocer, Colombo street, said she missed 4s from the till when she went for change. The boy Jinight was in the Bhop at the time, but r^Ji c( * taking the money. She heard French taifeing outside, and gave him in charge tor stealing the money. He gave up the money to Detective O'Connor. There being no evidence, to connect Knight with the stealing, the Bench discharged him. a rencn was remanded until Monday next. Cruelty to a Hobsb.— P. Goodwin was charged with this offence. Mr Joyce proseouted on behalf of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to animals. G. Mitchelson, Inspector for the Society, sworn, said that the accused was driving the horse on the Lincoln road. It was drawing a heavy load of meat. Witness stopped the accused and examined the horse, and found two wounds in its shoulders, 2£in broad, and a large wound in its side which the trace had rubbed, To accused : The wounds were protected, but not sufficiently. The Bench, after inspecting the horse, fined the accused 10s and costs. Mr Westenra remarked that the Inspector did wrong in riding in the cart when the horse was in Buch a bad state.
