THE SELWYN CONTEST.
Mr M'Lachlan's Candidature. Mr John M'Lachlan, who is contesting the Selwyn seat in opposition to Sir John Hall, authorises us to say that he is diatincfcly a supporter of the present Government, la saying this, Mr M'Lachlan wishes it to be understood that he is not a " thick and thin " supporter of the StoutYogel party, but that in the event of a trial of strength his vote would decidedly be given for the present Government.
