Licensing Committee Elections.
m CHRiSTCHURCH SOUTH-WEST. This contest resulted in the whole of the temperance candidates being rejected, though not in all cases by Buch large majorities aa in the other districts. The votes polled for each candidate were as follows : — R. J. S. Harman ... 206 F. J. Kimbell 167 C. P. Hulbert 157 J.V.Rosa 157 F. H. Barns 144. G. Booth 131 P. W. Isitt 116 J.L.Scott 115 J. T. Smith 99 Messrs Harman, Kimbell, Hulbert, Ross and Barns were declared elected. Out of 513 ratepayers on the roll, 274 voted, six of them putting in papers which were informal. The first meeting of the Committee for the purpose of electing a Chairman will be held at the City Council Chamber at 12.15 o'clock on March 4.
