GOVERNMENT INSURANCE EOARD. WELLINGTON, Feb. 24. At a meeting of the Wellington Meat Preserving and Refrigerating Company, "the balance-sheet, which showed a loss of nearly .£9OOO, was adopted. If; was decided to carry on the business with the understanding that the shareholders are to be again called together in May to consider the Company's operations between the present time and that date. At a meeting of the Government Insurance Association Board this afternoon, the report of Messrs Beatson and O'Connor, of the Public Works Department, to whom "the competitive designs for the new insurance buildings were referred, was discussed, when the first premium was awarded to Mr Joshua Charles worth, of Auckland, and the eecond to Mr Thomas TTurnbull, of Wellington. It was also decided that at present only that part of the building for which tenants have already been secured is to be constructed. Mr Turnbull has informed the General Manager of the Association that he declines to accept the &econd premium, preferring to retain the design as his own property* _______ _________
