Fbiday, Maboh 24. (Before J. T. Bouse and H. Allwright, EBqrs.) Dbtthkbnkbbs. — Gordon M'Donald, arrested by Constable O'Connor, was charged with being drunk, using obscene language, and resisting the police. Ihe - evidence showed that the constable was called to arrest the accused for committing an act of indecency on Norwioh Quay, the accused then became very violent indeed, and assaulted the constable, using foal language the whole time. The case was a most aggravated one, and caused a great disturbance in the street. The Bench said they were determined to put a stop to these offences if possible, and the accused would be sent to gaol for one month with hard labour for the assault on the constable, and would be fined £S, or in default two months' hard labour, for using obscene language.—John Stuart, arrested by Constable Allen, was charged with similar offences. The constable arrested the accused about 8 o'clock the previous evening in London street. He was using obscene language when arreited, made a moit violent and determined resistance, and the constable had to get assistance to take the accused to the station. The Bench fined the accused £2, or a month's hard labour for assaulting the constable, and £1, or 14 days, for using bad language.
