Mir Monk, who appeared, said that the offenoe had been committed by a servant who was in tho employ of Mr J. 0. Shcppard, who held a bill of aale over tho contents of tho houso and waa conducting it under that bill of sale. The Chairman also said that it bad como to thoir notice that lads congregated at some of the hotels playing cards, and ho gave it as a caution to publicans that if they allowed such. practices their licenses would not be renewed under any ciroumfltances. Extensions. — Mr J. Roberta applied for an extension of his licenso to the Coursing Ground on June 8 and 9, and till 1 p.m. on Friday, Juno 10, on tho occasion of the* annual banquot of tho Ashley Masonic Lodge.
