Wednesday, July 24. (Before Dr Donald, Esq., R.M., and J. T_ Rouse, Esq.) Assattlt. — Thomas Holder was charged by JamesPaync with this offence. Mr H. N. Nalder appeared for the defendant. Complainant stated that on July 17, after the hearing of a previous case, defendant accosted him in the street, and asked him if he was satisfied. He then spit in his face. Three witnesses were caUed who confirmed complainant's evidence. A witness stated that defendant did not spit in Payne's face, hut that he spit at him in a contemptuous manner. Defendant stated the same tiling. The Bench dismissed the case. — Alice Trevelyn charged Sarah. Ferdinand with throwing a can of water over her. Mr H. N. Nalder appeared for the defendant. Tliis was a row between two neighbours. Complainant had used provoking language to defendant. The Bench fined accused 10s and costs, 7s 6d. Civil Cases. — Dr J. T. Rouse v. Crafer,claim £9 17s 6d for medical attendance and medicine 6ince 1874. Judgment confessed. Defendant ordered to pay 30s per month. D'Authreau v. Garroway, claim £2 9s 6d ; judgment by default, costs, 10s. Ealamv. Johnson, claim £5 4s 4d ; judgment for* amount claimed, 13s- costs. Baker V. W. Agar, claim £2i 6s fid, judgment summons. Defendant ordered to pay 10s per week, or m default one month** imprisonment. Tkansfeb or License. — Tlie transfer of the license of the Victorian dining rooms froto A. H. Hardecke to D. Lazarus- was grrnnted.
