LYTTELTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Monday, Mabch 21. The Council met at the usual hour. Present:— Councillors AUwright, Banker, Young, Stout ; his Worship the Mayor presiding. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The amount received during the week was stated to be £28 13s. /jbA letter was read from Messrs Miles and Co., stating that they were in favour of a road being made to the head of the bay, as proposed by the Council. The Inspector of Nuisances' report. was read. It stated that notices had been served on persons residing in St. David's street to abate a nuisance. His Worship said he had seen the Provincial Secretary, and also Mr Davie, on the ' matter relating to the width of Norwich Quay. Mr Davie had informed him . the width between Canterbury and London streets was 45 feet. After a short discussion, it was moved by Councillor Stout, and seconded by Councillor Bunker, and carried, " That a letter be written to Mr Hargreaves, stating that the part he wished to be repaired was not in the public streets." Councillor Bunker moved, Councillor Young seconded, and it was resolved, " That Councillor AUwright be chairman of the Works Committee." Accounts amounting to £16 16s were passed for payment, and the Council adjourned. -
