INSURANCE FOR INJURED PLAYER

MEMBER OF MAKETU MUST STAND DOWN

Very little business of real importance was transacted at .the Te Puke R.P. Management Committee meeting held last week. Arrangements were put in band for the Shield match to be held in Opotiki this coming Saturday. Messrs G. Whiteside and A. Spratt were appointed managers of the team which will travel by bus leaving Te Puke at 9.45 a.ln. The team will break their journey at Taneatua for lunch and, win or lose, will stay at Opotiki for dinner, that evening. Mr. J. Saunders will handle one of the side lines during the game. At home, Mr M. Marsh will supervise affairs in connection with the Moore Shield game. During the course of the meeting, a sum of £2 10s was voted from the insurance fund in. respect to an injury suffered by a Rangiuru Club player, W. Ti Kiwi in May. In the case of W. Jacob, of Maketu, who was ordered off the field for using tripping methods in a recent match, the members decided that the player in question must stand down until his club produced his birth certificate. Authorisation to purchase 18 pairs of hose, two pairs of shorts and a football, was given, the seceretary, who announced that 30 gallons of petrol, > foi administrative purposes was now available from the Bay of Plenty R.U. A sum of £5 was allowed the Rotoiti Club to defray expenses of a recent visit, and a letter was sent the Waihi R.U. suggesting return matches for both junior and senior representative teams. Mr D. Nis bet advised the meeting of the alteration of the date for the Westtern Bay of Plenty District High Schools Ist XV v. Tauranga College Ist XV fixture, which would now take place in Te Puke on August 13.
