AMALGAMATION QUESTION
LOCAL DRAINAGE BOARDS CONFER A meeting of members of the Tumu-Kaituna Drainage Board, Te Puke Land Drainage Board and the Kaitumi River Board was held in the Borough Council Chambers on Saturday morning. There were present Messrs M. G. Cruickshank, A. J. Collins, W. Griffin, A. li. Snodgrass, D. Steel, N. Spratt, J. Ford, C. L. Luke, W. MacDonald, W. Williams, E. H. Hintz, and A. B. Morton.
Mr Morton was appointed chairman.
After a long discussion on drainage matters, and the inadvisability of amalgamation until something in the nature of a workable scheme had been decided upon for the drainage of the areas undor review, it was resolved as a (irst step towards a solution of the problem— That Messrs A. B. Morton and M. G. Cruickshank proceed to Wellington to interview the Minister in regard to the drainage of the river area and place the various aspects before the Government, and ascertain if an engineer’s report could be obtained.
