YOUNG FARMERS’ CLUBS
RALLY AT TE PUKE On Wednesday last a meeting of young farmers of the Bay of Plenty Provincial district took place in Te Puke, 50 members comprising young men from Opotiki, Edgecumbe, Taneatua, Paengaroa, Tauranga and Katikati taking part in an annual rally.
The proceedings opened in the St. Andrew’s hall with a general business meeting dealing with debating contests and tours. Mr Cawte, in the. absence of Mr D. S. Ross, occupied the chair. After luncheon the party adjourned to Jubilee Park where a football match took place, visiting members versus local members. Mr Eric Capon acted as referee. The proceedings were finalistd with a dance in the Paengaroa hall, at which there was a good attendance of the .public. Castleton’s Orchestra from Rotorua supplied the music, while a local caterer provided supper. All other arrangements for the entertainment of the visitors were in the hands of the .Te Puke Club. Messrs Reg Reid and J. McNaughton officiated as M.’s C. The Monte Carlo was won by Mr Collier and partner and the guessing competition by Mr Davies.
