Hockey
Men’s and girls’ teams from the Te Puke and Whakatane Hockey Clubs, met on the local ground on Wednesday and two close and exciting games were played, each game resulting in a draw, the men scoring 3 all and girls 1 all. A bitter wind blew throughout the afternoon, but this did not prevent a fair number of enthu piasts assembling to witness the matches. Messrs F. Stcfwart, E. Hartshorne and R. Bridger (Wha katane) acted as referees. At the conclusion of the men’s game the Te Puke and Whakatane players were mixed and took part in a game for the purpose of selecting a team to play in the White Horse contest at Auckland.
