WAIWER A.
A very enjoyable dance, promoted by a committee of gentlemen, eventuated in the Waiwera Focial hall on 21st A ugust. The hall wa<* tastefully decorated with nikaus and arum lilies. Mr W. Echolhim made a very capable MC. Eefreshments were provided in the usual style. Music (piano) was supplied by Meinheer Smiers (Puhoi), relieved by Miss <v Smith (Waiwera) and Mr Charles Becker ( p uhoi). Many pretty dresses were worn, the following being the most noticeable; — Mrs Smith, handsome black silk and jet; Mrs Wallace, black and pale mauve ; Mrs Baynes and her sister Miss Harrison, black mourning costumes; Miss Scholium, nice red blouse, dark skirt; Miss Wallace, bewitching pale pink ; Miss Quinn, becoming heliotrope and white; Miss Keaney, pretty pale green and
black ; Miss Fmith, pink evening blouse, dark skirt ; Mi- s A Smith, creme costume with red poppies; Miss Lees, pink an > black velvet; Miss Land, neat walking costume; Miss Scott, black velvet. Among the -gentlemen present were :- Messrs Bricson, Kavnes; Smith, Hatfield, Baker, Scholium, Lambert, Thornbnrn, Becher, Wallace, Butler and others- . Why was WL fo late the night of the dstice ? Was he waiting for J W?..G'E was piling it on with A - alright. .T B was in great demand hy the ladies, especially those seated on the platform — beg pardon, orchestral stalls.. .Was IS S sick wheu he was dancing the quadrilles, or was J W the cauße of his looking co. pale?. .Poor K s looked very miserable. Wa* ft because a certain party wai absent?. .. Why was it the elite in the corner were -bo anxious to dance with the MG? Was it jealousy, or his good dancing ?
