KAEO.
The football tournament was brought to a successful issue on Saturday last, the local team winning the .£25 prize. Great credit is due to the committee for the manner in which they carried out the tournament, A grand concert was held in the Kaeo Hall in the evening, the first part consisting of a Christy Min=trel performance. E Hughes as Sambo, and J L Burgess as Bone?, were a great success. Miss Brambley sang ' Her Own Boy, Jack,' in a very pleasing manner. Mr Brighouse s=ang ' The Cruise of the Calibar," which was well rendered ; Miss D Bramley, ' Bring Back the One I Love,' very nicely, and being her first appearance, speaks well for her in the future; Mr P J Plannagan, ' Eileen O'Connor,' in his usual good style. The following songs were gone through in the second part : Miss B Bramley, ' Does Your Heart Beat True to Me' (although thi3 youug lady was rather timid it was well received); Mr Brighouse, ' Launch the Lifeboat,' and was in splendid
voice ; Mr J L Burgess, local song, and had to respond to &n encore; MissN Bramley, ' The Gipsy's Warning," very nicely; P JFlannagan, Coster song, ' 1 Saw 'Er Steal 'Er Apron to 'Er Eye," which was well rendered ; B Irving, song and dance, which took the house by storm. Unfortunately Miss A Whitehead was called away to Whangaroa at the last moment, and therefore could not sing. Miss Alice Bramley played the accompaniments in her usual good style. The performance concluded with a farce entitled ' Niggers' Inventions,' which kept the house in roars of laughter. The hall was then cleared for a dance, which everjone seemed to enjoy. . * very pretty wedding took place in Kaeo on Wednesday, the 26th, the contracting parties being Mr Ernest Carr, storekeeper for Messrs Molesworth and Salus, Totara, and Miss Alice Bramley, or Kaeo. .N I was in great form on Sunday night.
