SLIP FACILITIES.

TARARU BOAT-OWNERS

PROPOSAL TO COUNCIL. WORK UNDER DIFFICULTIES. Writing to the Borough Advisory Committee at its meeting yesterday, Mr. P. T. Hill, of Tararu, stated that owing to Tararu having no slipway for hauling up boats for repairs, boatowners had to do repairs under considerable difficulty as compared to Shortland owners. This year they intended to do something permanent by laying rails and using carriage. Heavy axles and suitable wheels had been purchased, but before going to any further expense it had been decided to consult the Council.

The application asked if the Council would supply material from scrap and the boat owners would do the labour. It was decided to leave the matter in the hands of the Mayor, Commissioner and engineer to finalise.
