Mr. E. i. iMacDonough, representing the Foreign Department of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, arrived by the Mariposa this morning. His mission is to interview Chambers of Commerce, Government Departments, business men and others with a view to stimulating trade between the two countries. "Business men connected with the organisation I represent are convinced that if trade between the two countries is to last it must be reciprocal," said Mr. MacDonough. "We think the tourist traffic capable of expansion as well as general trade, and I will also, look into that side of the problem. There was a time not so long ago when New Zealand bought a great deal moro than she supplied, but during the last two or three years the balance- has been more even. I have como.equipped fnr conversations andhavc brought a list containing 15 commodities. I understand New Zealand is open to sell in America, and I' will investigate their possibilities, and feel sure an extended two-way trade will result."
