ALLEGED FORGERY.
£5 RESERVE BANK NOTES. ARREST IN WELLINGTON. ■ LABOURER FOR TKIAL. [By T«legraph. —Press Association J AUCKLAND, Aug. 9. As a sequel to the circulation of a number of forged £5 Reserve Bank notes among shopkeepers in Auckland •n Christmas Eve last, a man was arrested in Wellington on July 22 and appeared before Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., in the Polico Court charged with forging a £5 note and uttering several.
The accused man is Charles Alfred Remmers, aged 49, a labourer. He was not represented by counsel. After a number of witnesses had been called by the police, Re-mmers pleaded not guilty to six charges and was committed for trial in the Supreme Court on a charge of forging a £5 Reserve Bank note in Wellington in De-
cember. Remmers was remanded to appear at Wellington on Thursday next.
