WATER RACE BLOCKED.
SLIP IN CUTTING. SUPPLY OFF FOR WEEK. The most senou* damage caused during- Sunday morning was the blockage oi' the Thames Borough water I'acCj Upper Kauaeranga, just below Maungakirikiri, where the cutting put through about three years ago to replace the open limning swept away in a slip, was extensively damaged by another heavy slip. It is estimated that it will be a week before the supply is restored and in the meantime no water will be available for power purposes, the domestic supply will be dependent on the reservoirs but a shortage is almost certain before mid-week.
Scouring of piles niulei' the race and nlher uiinot* damage was also done at intervals along the length „i: the race. Workmen were engaged to-day in clearing I lie slip to restore the supply at the earliest possible nioinent.
