Beef Values Firmer.

WESTFIELD MARKET.

YESTERDAY'S QUOTATIONS.

(Special to "Star.”)

AUCKLAND, Jan. 31

There was again a short yarding of ox beef at the Westfield fat stock sales yesterday, and as a consequence cattle continued in keen demand. The yarding included somo inferior quality lines, but taken generally the standard was well up to recent levels. Reed, Waerenga, was the pick of the yarding and 21 steers sold on his account from £lO/10/- to £l4/17/0. Cow and heifer beef came forward in average numbers and sold under steady competition, being, if anything, a shade better than last week. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report that their yarding of beef consisted of 159 head, comprising 20 steel's and 133 cows and heifers, against 182 head last week. The quality of the offering was fully up to standard and, selling under n keen demand, values ruled firm at late rates.
