LADIES' COLUMN.

ENJOYABLE DANCE. A very enjoyable dance was held at the Queen's Theatre last evening. The hall was tastefully decorated with coloured paper streamers, and the floor was in excellent order. A most sumptuous supper was provided by a committee of ladies. Music was provided by Fisher's Collegians, who had to provide numerous encores, the result of their programme. An extra dance was very kindly played by Mrs Rex. Melsopp.

Tlie hostesses were Mrs E. B. Clendon, who wore a rose chenille ensemble; Mrs W. Price, black lace georgette; Mrs J. B. Liggins, rose pink lace net; Mrs Norman Matthew, floral georgette; Mrs R. Surinam black and white tulle; and Miss Lil. Price, silver and black lace, and who spared no efforts to make their guests enjoy themselves. Others present were: Mrs W. Watson, black and silver georgette, diamante trimming, together with silver and rose lame coat, with white angora wool; Mrs PI. R. Bush, black georgette; Mrs Campbell, leaf green georgette; Mrs G. L. Shaw, rose coloured georgette; Mrs J. Pease, black and green embroidered tulle; Mrs P. S. Miller, pale pink embroidered ninon; Mrs McCarroll, apricot duchess satin; Mrs C. R. Cooke, Betty blue beaded frock; Mrs C. H. Poulgrain, midnight blue chiffon-taffeta and tulle; Mrs Ed. Watson, rose tissue and black tulle; Mrs I). A. Mahoraey, gold lace and net; Mrs W. H. Hoult, midnight blue duchess satin; Mrs A. Fisher, apricot georgette; Mrs V. Boles, apple green ninon; Mrs Melsopp, black and silver georgette; Mrs Middlebrook, white tulle with satin trimming; Sister Reader, lagoon blue georgette; Miss Steedman, geranium georgette; Miss G. Stednuui, rose ninon; Miss Molly Campbell, black floral georgette; Miss Nettie Boles, black georgette; Miss Lanigan, apple green lace.

A KITCHEN EVENING. A kitchen evening for Miss M. Russell, on the eve of her marriage, was given by Mrs Sherlock, senr., of Sandes Street, on Thursday evening. The guests spent a pleasant social and musical evening, at the end of which Miss Russell thanked her hostess and many friends for the happy function given in her honour, and for their varied and useful presents.
