OVERDUE FEES.
HOSPITAL BOARD'S DECISION
DRASTIC ACTION FORESHADOWED
When the matter of accounts was mentioned at yesterday's meeting of the Thames Hospital Board, the treasurer (Mr-Geo. Tonge) asked for the decision of members in respect of certain overdue fees. Several specific instances were mentioned, particularly in the out-patients' department, where persons who were known to be in a position to pay had totally ignored correspondence on the matter.
The subject was fully discussed, and finally the treasurer was instructed to exercise all the powers under the Board's authority and to take any action necessary to obtain payment. Members generally considered that in a number of cases the time for further delay in payment had passed, and declared that the Board's leniency had been abused.
