MONTHLY MEETING.

The monthly meeting of tbe Women's National Reserve was held in St. George's Parish Hall on Friday, December 6. The members present were: Mrs E. F. Adams (president), in the chair, Mesdames E. N. Miller, McLaren and E. Newman (vice-pre-sidents), Patterson, Gemmings, N. Thorburn, G- G. Smith, Adamson and Miss Reid. Apologies were received from Mesdames Liggins, R. Lloyd, Hoiman, Scanlon, Green, Miss Watt and Mrs F. W. Long (secretary). Appreciation.

Letters of thanks from the Hospital Board and the Matron were read for the donation of books for the hospital library. There was also letters from the chairman and secretary of the Institute for the Blind, thanking: the Reserve for their very successful street stall, being especially grateful to the Reserve for paying the expenses due to advertising,- etc. The cheque sent to the Institute amounted to £32/15/11. Letters of thanks are to be sent to the Borough Council for permission to hold a street stall and also for the erection of same, and to Mr "Verran and Mesdames Costello and McMahon for the use of their premises. As a result of the social combined with the stalls held on October 10, the Society donated £6 for gifts towards the Christmas tree to . hospital and maetrnity annexe patients, £3 to the Old People's Homes, Tararu, and 30/- towards a special tea proviedd for the inmates after the drive tendered to them by members of the Reserve .and their friends. The drive and tea will take place this afternoon. The next meeting will be held on the first Friday in March. The president thanked the members for their hearty co-operation in working for the Reserve, and wished them all a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Tear.

Afternoon tea was provided by the president, and the work of the Society was concluded for 1929.
