ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
A WOMAN DROWNED
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Aug. 12.
A car driven by Theodore Allen, with two passenger's, Mrs May Jones and Mrs Bertha Simpson, when returning from Waipori late last night swerved off the. road near Berwick and plunged 10ft into the creek, which had 3ft. of water in it at the time. The car turned over, Mrs Jones being pinned underneath, and was drowned. The others were brought to the Dunedin Hospital, but their injuries are not "strious.
ACCIDENTALLY SHOT.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) MARTON, Aug. 12. A fatal shooting accident occurred near Hunterville on Saturday afternoon. John Robb, aged 23, a single farm-hand, was out shooting rabbits with a pea-rifle, and when climbing a fence his rifle went off, Robb being shockingly wounded in the abdomen. Despite this, he crawled back to the whare that he shared with one Smith, a schoolmaster at Rata, but Smith was absent in Hunterville. The latter returned some hours later and found Robb, who was hurried to the hospital, but h e died on Sunday morning.
