THE AVONDALE EXPLOSION.
SAID TO BE DUE TO uAS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Sept. 29. Investigations by the detectives aie stated to tend to the convulsion that the explosion /at Avondale totalisator was due to an escape of gas. D has transpired that the doois were forced by three men who were first to arrive after the explosion. One noticed that there was a smell of gas and turned of} the tap at the meter . -
