AUCKLAND SESSIONS. {press Association.) AUCKLAND, August 22. At the Supreme Court Mr Justice Herdman sentenced George Richard Slade to four years hard labour for assault with intent to commit rape. This was described as & very bad case, the prisoner having pulled a girl off her horse. Herbert Helm who committed a breach of his license given him by the Prisons Board was described by the judge as' a confirmed criminal and sentenced to three years hard labour. Wiremu Meinata who discharged a gun at his uncle in the bush causing his uncle to lose the sight of one eye with the sole excuse that he feared a whipping, was sentenced for five yea'rs’ reformative treatment.
