AMENDING LEGISLATION. STRONG OPPOSITION. •• ~ (Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Dec. 22. The Wellington Hospital Board strongly resents the proposed al iteration of th e Hospital Act, refusing to allow boards to appoint doctor, matron, and other officers, without the approval of the Minister. **' "" The chairman, Mr. Castle, denounced it as a reactionary proceeding, which would bring about a reversion to the centralisca bureaucratic form of control abandoned by Parliament yeaw ttgo on account of th e unsatisfactory results. He urged:itibe members . support his opposition. The members were unanimous with him, and considered that the boards would bo reduced to mere scullions, responsible for kitchen arrangements and nothing else. As the chairman put it, "The board* were, in effect, being told that t\w.7 could not bo trusted."
