ELECTING A SECRETARY

WELLINGTON, August 4.
The retirement?of Mr. J. Arbuckle from the position of general secretary of the Miners' Federation is announced. . The candidates for the position are W. Balderstone (Blackball); F. H. Grant (Millerton); J. O'Brien (Huntly); P. O'Rourke (State mine); W. . Franks (Fuksmiro); and W. H. Smith-(Rotowaru). A ballot is now proceeding among the affiliated unions.
