SYDNEY, March 30. Tlie following are the Freetraders elected:—Meriwee, Conroy; Conoblas, Brown, Labour candidate, defeating Wise, Attorney-General; South Sydney, Edwards, beating McGowan, leader of the Labour party, by 461. Protectionists returned: Cowper, Clark, Hume, Sir Win. Lyne. The returns in the. latter case are incomplete, but it is unlikely the position will be affected. The state of parties is seventeen Freetraders, eight Protectionists, and one Labor. In. some of the large scattered districts • the returns are incomplete and may alter the state of parties somewhat. In Victoria the Protectionists returned for Bourke, Cook, Corangatite, Manifold, Laanecorrie, Grose, and Freetraders for Flinders, Grose, Wannon, Cooke, -in all fourteen Protectionists and three free traders. There are six seats, the returns from "which are incomplete.
AVestralian results: Swan district,. Sir John Forrest, Protectionist, unop-" posed, Fremantle, Soiomqri, . Freetrader ; Perth, Fowler, Freetrader. The rest of.- the returns are incomplete, ■ ■ . i- 1 1-,|^ Tasmania: Freetraders returned:' Braddon, Piessie, Cameron; the latter supports the Ministry. Protectionists:' Fysch and O'Malley. The' approximate aggregate is for Protection 25, Freelfcrade '25, Independent 1. The Ministerialists have 26 supporteds. THE SENATE ELECTIONS. New South Wales .-Walker, Gould. Millen, Pulsford, , Gray, O'Connor, leading strongly. The last named is • the only Protectionist. Victoria: Frazer, Zeal, Styles, Bets, Protectionists; Sargood,- Freetrader; Barrett, Labour. Tasmania: Batting, Dolenon, O'Keefe, Freetraders,, but MinisteraK ists; Macfarlane,' Freetraders, Oppositionists; Cameron, 1 Ti-.e Protectionists are ahead. All the Senate returns are far from completion. ' \ The Hon v Mr Barton expects to. carry the balance of the Victorian seats in the House and thinks the final returns will improve the position of New South Wales. A storm in the country is preventing the returns. The Victoria returns are coming in. ' Hon. Mr Reid has. expressed satisfaction at the way in which the Freetraders stuck together in New South Wales. He believed that at least five Freetrade is in bunch were elected for the Senate. '
